new wall?
May 7 2009, 9:09 AM EDT | Post edited: May 7 2009, 9:09 AM EDT
have been wanting to do this for a long time and i feel that broughton needs it.
where the current (defunct) systems board is, i would like to replace this with a roof area spanning the entire space inbetween the columns.
the roof could be of differing angles and heights, or simply be akin to demon wall roof. it would be no higher than the current woodie.

what do people think? i've been trying to source free wood from the bbc's in sheff but graeme has told me that the wood is not bmc's to give away. but holds i can get some of to start it up.

i shall put up a for/against up at the wall soon as i'm not getting every worshipper to broughton on here.

let me know your views here tho in the mean time

love

sounds like a good idea mate. I personally would be up for this being a systems board, and or one of those setups which the beastmakers boys seem to have patented. which is a board with symmetrical problems. so you get strong on both sides of your body for the problem, if you know what i mean. One thing worth looking into is more matting and existing matting being mended. apart from the permenantly matted areas the is really only one matt which can be used between the freestanding boulder/campus board and this new project board.

Good plan. I'll chip in for some plywood and can help out with the construction. I've started to reset the 45 board and this might have room (far right side) for a system board using bleaustone mirrored holds. Tom has some cash raised from T's and beanies! Get him asap as he's off to Kenya in a few weeks!

Management spoke to me last week and said we could have a new wall!! I assume by this they mean some funds to construct something else within the hall. Don't know yet whether this means we design it and they build it or we build it. Firstly though I want to pressure them to get the place properly matted so we can use all the existing panels at the same time. Secondly we have to decide as a group what new facility we want. I think it comes down to two choices either a good system board or a roof construct. Everyone needs to offer their opinions and preferences. Also we all need to keep reminding them that the mats at present are not sufficient to use the facilities we have before we think about new stuff. Do you find this valuable?

Would certainly be high on my agenda. Not sure it would be too tough to add an extra 4 foot of board - making for a few more moves UP....Still be a big project though. I'm in! Do you find this valuable?

So here's the the plan

. Free standing boulder will be dismantled and three of the overhanging faces will be attached to the wall. ( Between the 45 degree board and the store next to the campus board. ) This will give us a continuous 24ft in length of angled board. It will open the whole room up and and give us plently of space in the middle for some changing small storing facilities for bags etc. It will also allow us at at a later date to do something with the old condemned system board. The pull up bar can be positioned to the right of the campus board.

So any help with the dismantling process would be welcome.

that certainly makes sense, as i think these faces would get more useage than the freestanding boulder currently gets.
